The Secret to Success: What is the difference between DOING and TRYING!? Part 1

Welcome back!  This series will normally include two principles per blog post to help you identify if you are “Doing” [actually on the road to success] or “Trying” [spinning your wheels and getting nowhere]… but today…Principle 1 is pretty heavy and will be enough to fill your head until the next post.

To get the full effect take a few moments after reading each post to evaluate your own situation and evaluate if you are in fact DOING or if you’re TRYING.

PRINCIPLE 1

DOing: I will make the time!

You know you’re doing when you have the attitude “I will MAKE the time to work towards and achieve my success!” This means you already have consistent time scheduled in your calendar that you commit to and follow through on each week!  To work on an investment, business vehicle or commitments that are going to get you to financial freedom you must make time for it and stick to those times!

TRYing: When or IF I have the time

You’re trying when you say “When or IF I have the time today, this week, this month; I will work on my business, investment, idea etc…”  This will inevitably have you ‘spinning your wheels! In this case you are treating your financial freedom like a HOBBY and not the INVESTMENT it is.

Treating your financial freedom this way, could be your number one reason why you’re not where you want to be.  You haven’t set up that consistent time in your calendar to make it happen.  You have NOT MADE IT A PRIORITY!

Now, this is going to be a recurring theme throughout this series.  Creating your financial freedom is a long term goal.  You must be willing to work NOW to have your freedom later.  I like to say “If you want your freedom, you have to be willing to work for free.”  Creating financial freedom, requires you to build a ‘machine’ that will provide cash flow. Anything that is truly set up to create Financial Freedom will take an investment of time & money in the beginning, which means you’re not going to be getting paid a lot right upfront…and this is where a great deal of people drop the ball. Most are socialized into: work a week/month, get paid! Work another  week/month, get paid.

Now I’m not saying you have to give up your full time job.  As I mention in my book, your financial success is determined by what you do in your spare time.  Creating financial freedom is not ‘hunting’, it’s ‘farming’.  You’re planting the seed, nurturing that seed, seeing that it has all it needs to grow healthy and strong and then wait till it’s time to harvest to enjoy the ‘fruits of your labor’.

“If you never MAKE the time, you will never HAVE the time.” Doug Nelson

“What you DO with your TIME clearly and honestly shows your TRUE Values and Priorities.” Melanie Nelson

DOING vs. TRYING; a Mini Part Series

DOING vs. TRYING

How do you know if you’re moving toward success or just spinning your wheels?

Ever felt you are just not where you want to be, or it’s not happening fast enough…

Well, I want to help shed some light on WHY you may feel this way.  And I hope this information is an eye opener for you…

Before we jump in… we must first learn the truth about TRYING.

TRYING is an excuse to fail prior to even starting!  When you say you’re trying something, there’s an expectation that you won’t accomplish it; “Yeah, well I tried it, but it didn’t work.”  You are giving yourself justification or rationalizing with yourself that it’s OK to keep the exit open and thus fail.

Try is a word we use to make ourselves feel better about quitting. It’s deferring accountability. Successful people take accountability for ALL their decisions. The Do’s & The Don’t’s. There is no TRY in a successful person’s vocabulary, simply because they know this truth to be self evident; you don’t try to do something, you either DO IT or YOU DON’T. You don’t try to create financial freedom, you either do or you don’t.  You don’t try to go to the bathroom, you either do it or you don’t.

Now that you are aware of how negative the word “trying” actually is, treat it as if it’s a three letter swear word.  Not only should you strike from your vocabulary but completely remove it from your way of thinking because it WILL steal a lot of your dreams.

We at Catch Fire University feel that if you are using this word, try, you are always keeping your dreams and desires just out of reach.  There’s always something you have to figure out or find out about yourself, your path, you situation…

Once you TRULY EMBRACE that LIFE IS YOURS TO CREATE; that your life and dreams are yours to create because they are God’s gift to you; it’s then that you will accomplish them.  You won’t waste time spinning your wheels, you won’t find yourself busy trying because you will have embraced the attitude that will allow you to use your given gift to its fullest potential.

We have put together 10 principals to know if you are DOING or TRYING.

These principals are formed together in a way that will allow you the opportunity to take a look at yourself, your life and your ways of thinking and say to yourself, “OK, am I doing this…or am I doing that?”

The upcoming series of blog posts will cover two principals each to allow you plenty of time to read and re-read the posts and to evaluate your own particular situation.  Be sure to come back and read through the entire series on DOING vs. TRYING with us.

I developed the empowering belief that “business is about helping people”…

Financial freedom is not only about how much money we are making, it actually encompasses other aspects of our life including our health, our relationships, and spiritual components. It is living the life you want, doing work that you love, having good feeling and living a carefree life. One cannot rely of the economy, the government or the fiscal policies to take care of us.

In order to have the freedom, I learned to confront all the negative beliefs inside my mind that stood in my way.

I confronted these negative beliefs in the Catch Fire University Online Programs! I am so grateful I took the Associates Degree from CFU and right now I am taking Masters Degree, and loving it!

One of the most powerful lessons that was LIFE CHANGING for me was the resistance and fear I had around starting my own business and engaging in any type of sales.

In CFU I developed the empowering belief that “business is about helping people” and “sales is fun”. And because of that I started my own business since I took the course.

I am now living my life financially free, doing work that I love, living happy, healthy and whole (which mirror my dream life!^^) – and it is in line with my GOD’s given destiny to live abundant life HE has prepared for me! J I highly recommend CFU to anyone who wants to achieve their financial freedom too! J To your success and financial freedom^^

And it is all because I received a clear map to financial freedom when a friend on Facebook told me about a PHENOMENAL book “Catch Fire: How to Ignite Your Own Economy” written by Doug Nelson (you will have to read Doug’s book and hear his story to get the importance of the title).
